How To Use the Silva Mind Control
Method to Achieve Your Big Dreams

The Silva Mind Control Method is the first technique that I ever learned about how to master my thoughts. I saw a course description in the catalogue of our local community college more than 30 years ago. It promised to teach me how to use the power of my mind to achieve what I wanted.

 

Since I had been struggling for a long time to achieve a specific goal, I thought this course might be the answer I was looking for. I grabbed my best friend and we both signed up for the course.


The Basics


I learned that your brain is an amazingly powerful instrument which operates at different levels or states throughout the day and night. When you are fully awake and aware of the outer world, you are at a Beta level. When you are asleep, you are in a Theta state. When you are at that place in consciousness which is just before falling asleep or just after waking up, you are in an Alpha state or level.

Each state has unique characteristics and no one state is better than any other state. However, it is easier for you to accomplish specific tasks when you use the level that naturally supports it.

Jose Silva, the founder of the Silva Mind Control Method, was a pioneer in discovering how powerful the human mind is. During his research he found that when you drop into a deep meditative state, also known as an Alpha state, you can successfully program your mind. You can run the software program that will support you in achieving your dreams.


Meditation – Where the Silva Mind Control Method Begins

The first step in the Silva Mind Control Method is going into a meditative or Alpha state.

The Alpha state is a state of controlled relaxation. When you are in this state, you feel very relaxed, yet you are still fully conscious. This is a great place to train your mind to do what you want it to do. 

When you are in an Alpha state, your mind is very open to any positive suggestions you give it. And the good news is that you can program your mind with empowering ideas without worrying about interference from your negative, limiting thoughts.

This is a great state for you to use when you want to do problem solving, control physical sensations such as pain or anxiety, improve your memory, or actively set goals.


Moving Into and Out of an Alpha State

In the Silva Mind Control Method, it is important to learn how to move into and out of an Alpha state. These steps make it easy to do.


 Step 1 – Entry

Close your eyes and imagine that you are looking slightly above eye level. (This eye position helps encourage your brain to drop into an Alpha state.)

Take a deep breath. When you exhale, mentally see and say the number ‘3’ three times. Take another deep breath. On the exhale, mentally see and say the number ‘2’ three times. Take another deep breath. When you exhale, mentally see and say the number ‘1’ three times.


Step 2 – Deepening

To become even more relaxed, you count down from 100 to 1, 50 to 1, or 25 to 1.

If you are new to meditation, start with counting backwards from 100 to 1, then move to 50 to 1, and finally 25 to 1. If meditation is already part of your practice, you can work with counting backwards from 25 to 1.


Step 3 – Programming

This is where you can program your mind with positive thoughts and affirmations. Remember, at this level your negative voice will be quiet, so work with empowering thoughts that you want to become part of your belief system.

You can also use this step to program your imagination to help you achieve a specific goal. (More on this a little later.)


Step 4 – Exit

Here is where you give directions to your mind to come out of your meditative state. You tell yourself,

 “I am going to count from 1 to 5. At the count of 5, I will be wide awake, fully alert, and feeling better physically, emotionally, and spiritually than before.   1,   2,   3.  At the count of 5, I will open my eyes.   4,   5.  I am wide awake, feeling fully alert and wonderful in every way.”

 Open your eyes.


Using the Silva Mind Control Method for Active Goal Setting 


The Silva Mind Control Method is a great tool to use for goal setting and accomplishment. Here are the steps to follow.

 

Step 1 – Desire

Think about what you want to accomplish. It must be something you really want. If you only have a half-hearted desire to achieve your goal, then you probably won’t. Make sure whatever you choose brings joy to your heart!

 

Step 2 - Belief

This step is critical to your success. You need to believe that you can realize your goal. Even though it might take time, you must believe it is possible for you to achieve it.

If you set a goal so high that you don’t believe you can achieve it, your mind is going to be filled with fears and doubts. And you probably know what happens when your mind is filled with fears and doubts. Either you will struggle terribly as you try to achieve your goal or – even worse – you might not try at all.

Choose a goal where you honestly believe that you have a chance to succeed.

 

Step 3 – Expectancy 

You must expect that you will accomplish your goal. It might not happen today, but you must expect that you will eventually succeed.

Your expectation is the link that taps into the limitless power of your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind has the power to create in ways that you can’t even imagine. And it uses your expectations as the blueprint for what it is going to create for you.

You might not necessarily get what you want, but you will always get what you expect. Make sure you expect the best!

  

Step 4 – Positive

You must set your goal using a positive statement.  Most people know what they don’t want but they usually don’t focus on what they do want. It is important for you to be very clear about what you really want and that it is stated in the positive.

  

Step 5 – Visualize the Accomplished Goal

Finally, you create a scenario in which you are experiencing your goal as if it was already a reality. You imagine what it feels like to have accomplished your goal. You continue using this visualization until you finally achieve your goal. (Of course, you do need to take some action to help it along!)


Learning to Use the Power of Imagination


Now that you are clear about your goal and you know how to move into and out of a meditative state, you are ready for the next step – becoming an expert at imagination.

Your imagination is one of your best strategies for achieving your big goals. In the Silva Mind Control Method, you use the power of imagination by practicing visualization techniques.

You create a mental workshop or laboratory where you can practice visualizing. Choose something that you want to focus on. A great choice is to focus on one of your important goals.

You are going to be the writer and director of a mental movie. In this mental movie, you are going to create a scenario where you have already achieved one of your big goals.

Next, imagine that there is a big movie screen approximately six feet in front of you. On this big screen, you are going to act out the script you have created – the one in which you have achieved your goal.

See yourself having already accomplished what you want. Feel how wonderful it feels to live the life you’ve always dreamed about. Enjoy it thoroughly.

The Silva Mind Control Method is a great tool to help you take control of the power of your mind so you can live the life that you want. The more successfully you can control your mind, the more you will be able to positively impact your life.

And just in case you’re wondering, by using the Silva method and other spiritual practices, I finally did achieve my goal!
