Your Spiritual Awakening Journey
Can Move You From Darkness to Light

By Della Menechella

Sad Woman

My spiritual awakening journey wasn’t the result of me having a burning desire to develop a closer relationship with Spirit. It was the result of me trying to escape from deep emotional pain and suffering.

As a spiritual female entrepreneur, you will probably find yourself handling challenges in both your personal and professional lives. When you are dealing with challenges, especially if they seem to resist everything you try to do to fix them, thinking about spiritual awakening might be the furthest thing on your mind. But it might be just the thing to move you from darkness to joy and delight.

Let me explain.

My Spiritual Awakening Journey

Over thirty years ago, my husband and I decided it was time to start a family. I thought it would be relatively easy to accomplish this, but that wasn’t what happened. We struggled with infertility for years.

During that time, I was devastated. We were loving, caring people. What had we done to deserve this? Why couldn’t we have a child?  None of the medical treatments we tried worked, and I became desperate to find some way that we could become parents. I was open to anything.

There is a saying, “When the student is willing, the teacher will appear.”

Women Mentoring

My spiritual awakening journey began when I connected with my first mentor, Cathy. She introduced me to the idea that we can create what we want by visualizing a successful outcome and by affirming that it is already ours. This sounded crazy to me, but I was desperate and willing to try anything.

When the student is willing, the teacher will appear.

I visualized myself being pregnant. I affirmed that I was a mother. I worked very hard at doing these spiritual practices, but nothing changed. Then Cathy told me that we must be willing to not have what we want if it is for our highest good. We need to “let go and let God.”

I had a big problem with that concept. I did not totally trust God. I was concerned that if I ‘let go and let God,’ I would not get what I wanted. I was afraid that if I surrendered my desire to God, I would be very disappointed with the outcome.

I felt stuck.

Trust in the Goodness of God

Just as I was about to give up all hope that I could ever become a mother, someone gave me a book of affirmative spiritual statements. Two of them jumped out at me.

When you ask God for bread, He will not give you a stone.

God never leaves a need unmet.

These statements transformed my relationship with God. I finally understood that if I surrendered my desires to God, He would never disappoint me. I could let go and allow God to take over, and I knew in my heart that I would be satisfied with the outcome, whatever it was.

As soon as I allowed God to be in charge, I got pregnant, even though the doctors told us it wasn’t possible. This was not only the first step along my path of spiritual understanding and growth, it also totally transformed the way I live my life.

Spiritual Awakening Journey Steps

If you are struggling with challenges in your life, you might be wondering how you can navigate your spiritual awakening journey to get to a positive outcome. Here are some ideas that can help you:

Watch Your Words – If you don’t want something to be part of your life, don’t say it. When I was trying to get pregnant, I was in an executive position. At that time, if I told people that I was trying to have a baby, it would not have been well received. When people asked when I was going to have a baby, I told them that I didn’t want to have children. The Universe gave me what I was saying – no children. The Universe is always listening, and whatever you say, it thinks you are asking for it and will bring it to you. When I learned this universal truth, I quickly stopped saying that I didn’t want children.

Affirm and Visualize – Spend time each day affirming what you want. You can write it down or say it out loud. You should also visualize the successful outcome you want. I used to write pages of affirmations that I was pregnant, and I would visualize myself getting ready for work with my big, pregnant belly.

Meditate on Divine Love – Close your eyes and feel Divine love coursing through your body and all around you. The Divine loves and adores you and is always willing to help you whenever you ask for it. Feeling this Divine unconditional love will give you the courage to continue moving forward as your challenge gets resolved.

Speak Mantras – Being on a spiritual awakening journey doesn’t mean that fears and doubts won’t crop up. They probably will, but you can handle them. Repeat mantras like “God never leaves a need unmet” or anything else that resonates with you. Say them over and over until the fears and doubts subside.

Take Inspired Action – Just because you are in partnership with the Divine doesn’t mean that you can sit back and relax. You still need to do your part. Take time to get quiet and listen to what your inner guidance is telling you what to do. One of the things that I was guided to do was to change fertility specialists from one doctor who told me that I would never get pregnant to another who said that we could make it happen.

Speak It Into Existence – Just like you should never say what you don’t want because the universe is always listening, you should say what you do want. At one point, my husband and I were considering adopting a baby. When I found out that I would need to stay home from work for six months after adopting, I told them, “That won’t work for me. I’m going to have my own baby.” And I did.

Let Go of How It Looks – This is probably the hardest part of your spiritual awakening journey. You probably have an idea of what you think needs to happen for you to be satisfied. But your idea of what needs to happen might not be the right thing for you. I finally decided to give up my dream of being a mother. I was going to adopt a cat instead. I realized that wanting a baby was really a desire for me to love something. If adopting a cat filled that need, then that was okay with me. As soon as I let go, I got pregnant.

Spiritual Awakening Journey Transformation

Della, Kayla, Jaxon-2022

My struggle with infertility was one of the darkest periods of my life. But, because I was willing to be open to my personal spiritual awakening journey, it set me on a path of light and joy that would never have happened in any other way.

Did I achieve my dream? Yes. Not only do I have two sons, but I also have two wonderful grandchildren. But the greater gift that I learned because of this time is that God loves us and is always available to support us. When I am faced with challenges and fears about the future, I focus on the truth of God’s love, and it comforts me and strengthens my faith.

My greatest and most important spiritual awakening is knowing that whenever I trust in God’s goodness and love, I will always be delighted with the result. And so will you.
